I had a little Cygnet sailboat back in the day. It was lent to me for a while by a friend, and I took my dog out a couple of times for a brief sail. No one had life jackets for dogs then - the dark ages! But if you’re going to sail with your dog(s) at all, and especially if you are cruising, you cannot pass up getting this E-Book “How to Sail with Dogs 100 Tips for a Pet-Friendly Voyage”.
Michelle and Maik, along with their two beagles Scout and Jack, are presently sailing around the world with their two pups. They have conveniently assembled everything you never thought of to prepare before your trip. Potty training for the dogs is the least of it. How about getting a dog passport? Do you have a medical kit for your pup? You may think this is over-doing it - until you need something.
For your benefit, they have a cheat sheet at the end of the book with their 100 Tips- yes 100. All of them are vital to a successful journey. The nice aspect of it being an E-Book is that it takes up no space and you can always have it with you. And you should!
They will have you looking at your boat from a dog’s view - accessibility, comfort, safety. Take some short sails before venturing into foreign waters. Get your pups acclimated. They may decide cruising is not for them. In that case, you will need to follow a different scenario.
This book is available on Amazon for $6.99 USD and would also make a great gift. The holidays are right around the corner. You can “visit” with them through some of their favorite moments, as videos are included. You’ll get to see Scout and Jack in action! The book is well-written and clear to understand. You can also follow this group on their website www.sailorsandseadogs.com and on Instagram @sailorsandseadogs and on Facebook as well.
I hope to meet this bunch someday when they return to the states. In the meantime, you’ll feel like you’re sailing with them when you read this terrific book.
